Current and Forthcoming Books

Jendia Gammon / J. Dianne Dotson current and forthcoming books

In 2024, I signed a number of book deals, and I was nominated for several awards for my 2023 books. In addition to those books, my earlier works are finding new audiences. Now that it’s 2025, I have multiple books coming out every year for the next three years. So, what do I write? Basically the full range of speculative fiction. Let’s get into it.

SCIENCE FICTION

I write a range of science fiction books and short stories. My first published works were the four books of my space opera series, The Questrison Saga®, which were originally published under my J. Dianne Dotson pseudonym. You can search for them under Jendia Gammon also, these days, from your favorite bookseller.

This space opera series begins with Heliopause, continues with prequel/sequel/concurrent Ephemeris, and then moves into sequels Accretion and Luminiferous. These books are great for fans of Star Wars, Star Trek, Farscape, The Fifth Element, Doctor Who, Dune, and Foundation. Influences range from classic sci-fi and fantasy stories to anime and darker works. Themes include found family, first contact, alien civilizations, ecology, robotics, dynastic galactic factions, cosmic horror, war, and romance…to name a few.

The Inn at the Amethyst Lantern, published by Android Press, was my first foray into young adult fiction, and it is a blend of science fiction and fantasy set in a Lunarpunk (night-living) future.

It has been a finalist for the Nebula Award, the BSFA Award, and was longlisted for the Hugo Award related Lodestar Award, longlisted for the British Fantasy Award, and considered for the Ursula K. Le Guin Prize. For teens to infinity. Themes include coming of age, climate fiction, post-apocalyptic fiction, hope–punk, genetic manipulation, ecology, team-building, and leadership. Read more about this book in my dedicated post about it.

There are two more books in this series: the sequel, The Secret of the Sapphire Sentinel (October 21, 2025) and the prequel, The Dawn of Dusk and Twilight (Autumn 2026).

HORROR, SCIENCE FICTION, THRILLER

The Shadow Galaxy is my cross-genre short story and poetry collection which was longlisted for the BSFA Award and the British Fantasy Award.

Great for fans of Ray Bradbury, John Carpenter, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Stephen King, you will find many dark tales in horror, as well as several in science fiction and fantasy. Some of those are lighter than others. There are also Appalachian tales and some poetry. Published via Trepidatio (JournalStone).

In 2025, I made my horror novel debut with TWO novels.

The first is Doomflower (writing as Jendia Gammon), a Mean Girls meets Day of the Triffids campy horror novel. Read more about Doomflower in its dedicated blog post. Published April 8, 2025 from Encyclopocalypse Publications. AVAILABLE NOW!

Unusual biological organism designs are featured on the cover as well as two triangles representing night in the two different regions.

Also forthcoming in horror is Godfestation, my Appalachian weird horror novella, also publishing via Sley House Publishing in August 2026. This is an unsettling exploration of grief set in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina, for fans of David Lynch and Ray Bradbury. Read about Godfestation HERE.
